We aim to provide quality eyecare for all, coupled with excellent Customer Service.
The current practice was formed in 2001 by merging the practices of Woolley McOwan & Webb Optometrists and Ian Lucas (Optometrist).
Woolley McOwan & Webb have had a practice in Stafford since 1947 offering a wide range of ophthalmic services to the local community.
Philip Webb joined the practice in 1974 and has worked there ever since. His work includes all types of contact lens fitting, provision and advice on low vision aids and children’s eyecare. Until recently he was the attending optometrist at the local hospital, this role now shared by his son, Richard and our regular locum David Bate. Philip served in the past on the Staffordshire Local Optical Committee and is a keen attender at the South Staffs Optical Society educational meetings.
Ian Lucas qualified as an Optometrist in 1978 and worked in a variety of different locations before acquiring the McIntosh Opticians practice in Stafford, in 1995. He has served as a member of the Local Optical Committee and as a councillor of the Association of Optometrists, a national organisation.
Shelley Stubbs was educated at Stafford Grammar School. After her university training she worked initially as an optometrist in Penkridge and became a director of Webb, Lucas & Stubbs in 2007. She currently hold the position of chair of the Local Eye Health Network, an NHS organisation.
The practice has four Optometrists as the directors are now joined by Michelle Mason who qualified in 2008 who previously worked in another practice in Staffordshire. Two self-employed Optometrists are also in regular attendance, Richard Webb (son of Philip) and David Bate both provide regular clinics with us and also at the local County Hospital. Richard is currently acting Clinical Lead Optometrist in the Eye Department at the Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital. His role in our practice is expected in increase as time goes on.
Sarah Thomas and Heather Lunn have been our Dispensing Opticians for some time and are now joined by Jenny Martin who is also a Contact Lens Optician.
